Purpose:

Execution: Place a bench laterally to one side of you. From a standing position and keeping your body upright, take a side step up onto the bench, driving up with your front leg. Squeeze at the peak contraction before lowering yourself to the start position. Absorb the impact when lowering yourself to back onto the floor. You can keep your front leg on the bench and complete the set for that leg before repeating the same movement for the other leg.
