Primary Muscle: Shoulders
Equipment: Dumbbell
Level: Intermediate
Purpose: To target the medial head of the deltoid muscle.
Execution: Standing with your feet shoulder width apart, grasp a dumbbell in each hand and hold them in a neutral position by your side. Lean slightly backwards so that you can hold the dumbbells behind your back. Keeping a slight bend in your elbows, lift both arms out and up driving through your elbows. Be sure to keep your elbows higher than your wrists as you raise your arms. Imagine as if you are turning your wrist to pour water from a pitcher. Remember, you want to maintain the slight backward lean so that you can bring the dumbbells behind your back.
